I looked this issue up and it had to do with the RTF format. She can send the files out through Gmail with no problem, but wants to use Outlook because it is more professional. I figure it had to be a setting in the contact that was overriding the main settings. Not sure, but the client is happy. I think you've pretty much got it, based on my experiences with the same issue anyway. I've also noticed more issues with the winmail.

The recipient gets it as a winmail. We did a few tests: Sent from the same Outlook client a pdf - received successfully as pdf. Also deleted the AOL address from the autofill cache.
