The question is related to the proposed method of conducting historical research, aimed at analyzing images of the past as a cultural construct having an impact primarily on current cultural orders; official images of the past cover current conflicts, weaken self-knowledge and hamper the creation of a more solidary society.
According to the proposed method, the author considers alternative dates that may symbolize the birth of the Second Polish Republic, points to the basic conflicts of that order class conflict related to the subordinate position of workers and peasants, sexual conflict regarding discrimination against women, and finally area conflicts related to Kresy and identifies the hidden beginnings of independent Poland.
