I remember the early bodice rippers and I also remember devouring them as a teenager. Or that my tastes have changed so much since those years that many of those books just may not be my cuppa any longer. Desert Eden was originally published in …. Yes, I realize this is a brutal and violent time, and I went with the flow for a while. So when Khalid decides his feelings for Heather have grown and he no longer wants to ship her off to her betrothed to slake his revenge thirst, his love does shine through — to a point. When he still becomes rough with her, bending her to his will at every turn — even when an issue is truly important to her — his sexiness and love diminished in my eyes.

To be honest had this story been first released just recently I would have rated it one star however back in the day things were different so I can see why the story was written the way it was.
So, our heroine Heather is a spoiled brat that is accustomed to getting away with pretty much anything and everything, except with choosing the man she gets to marry. The interaction between the two was interesting to say the least. It was pretty funny at times but it also tended to be annoying. Jan 27, Tatiana Stefan rated it it was ok Shelves: did-not-like. It took me awhile to finish this book as I was used to the contemporary world of romance and not the "Ottoman Empire"time period.
That being said, I found the story to just be "OK". This book was published in If I read this book when I was and still living in my native county I may have possibly liked it - maybe even really liked it.
However, living here in the US and with the political climate, news and controversies, I kept thinking about real life issues of people with 2. Thats why I feel if I read this years ago instead I wouldn't be affected by that. The story and time period is pretty barbaric and brutal.
The H at the very end sort of gave in and that showed that he really loves the h. The h showed fire and spunk but later in the book I'm like huh??? The H is slightly nice given the fact of his culture and what he is allowed to do and he doesn't even though he can but I have absolutely no idea how the h can live in this type of culture. I'm sorry but its a totally different type of life and really, for me, barbaric Anyway, 2.

A great read! Jan 04, Asuka rated it really liked it Shelves: i-own-it , guilty-pleasures. This was my first "adult" romance novel. I don't even remember how I came across it but I did.
I was probably a freshman or sophomore in high school at the time. Fast forward 20 yrs and several life experiences later and i still love this book. There's something about Heather's spirit that really makes me like her character; when she riles up the Sultan's harem and the banter that is thrown about between her and Khalid. You will love that story. The hero was too cruel and heartless for me. Was certainly not in mood for this. I gave this book second chance. It's too barbaric for me. Apr 22, Anna Swedenmom rated it really liked it. A highly debatable rating. It is written in a fantastic way, has a good plot line and good characters, however, in this day and age the content bothered me so much I had to struggle to finish the story.
Having said that, i will say this author is beyond talented, I genuinely can say that for most you will be captivated by her writing and just enjoy the way she has of pulling you inside her stories.
I was given this book in return for an hone A highly debatable rating. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Regards, Anna Apr 10, Tami rated it liked it Shelves: netgalley , grasso-p. Needs an edit, but since it was published in I don't think it will get one.
It was a nice book. I would have appreciated it more in Clash of Cultures and Pride This book is completely different from most medieval historical romances that I have read.
REVIEW: Desert Eden by Patricia Grasso
By Patricia Grasso. Sparkling sunbeams danced across the gentle swell of the waves as they rolled almost leisurely toward shore. With her arms resting on the starboard railing of the French ship La Belle Beaulieu, Heather Elizabeth Devereux looked toward the distant figures on the beach. Heather knew her mother would watch until the ship disappeared over the horizon. Heather doubted she would be so fortunate.
