EXCELLING AT CHESS CALCULATION AAGAARD PDF

TWIC is First issue 17th September For any time that a titled player such as Aagard feels compelled to present his case in such a venue, it at least shows that the target in this case my 'Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy' is attracting serious attention. When Aagard's 'Excelling at Chess' arrived, I found the relevant material in parts of Chapters 1 and 2, and just about all of Chapter 3, entitled 'No Rules? Here I'd like to invoke the self-defence principle and address his case as well as I can given such a complex topic. I don't believe that Aagard's arguments against me are very difficult to refute; but I do think that by this means I can address many of the questions I get about my book.

I bought this book 1 month ago and have read it till I'm writing this review. The book is overall good, as it introduces you candidates moves, etc.

But there is a problem and is that this book explains very little about the chapters, it mainly covers an introduction at the beginning of each chapter which doesn't reach a page and the rest are comments about different games, of course focusing on that chapter. Another thing is that it includes two chapters called "When it is the time to Calculate" and "What is the right time to calculate" which are basically the same, so that was quite irksome for me.

Of course by the time that book was written the author didn't have the GM title but the IM, something that is completely understandable. Finally, I highly recommend this author because of the many books he has written and the different topics of chess he explains. Thank you for your feedback. Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. Very much what I expected. The discussion around how and when to calculate is very interesting.

Die Beispiele sind neueren Datums und nicht, wie in anderen Werken, "uralt" Meine Empfehlung!! Translate review to English. There are not many hints about training in calculation, just a final chapter which gives obvious advice like "solve combinations", "analyze games", "purchase these other books", and exercises.

The rest of the book are just commented games where calculation is important. This book covers what is missing from Excellent Book! It is nice to have chess books, but will only improve if we work with them. I have much more books than I ever will be able to read. I would like to go through at least one of my books carefully, and I think Calculation by Aagaard is a good choice. I propose here following project: if somebody has this book and wants to work with it, we can do this together. We choose a position of the book it could be the first one on chapter 1, page 15 , and we will try to find the best move for this position.
